The panoramic views from the peak are astonishing, and are guaranteed to make that middle-of-the-night start worthwhile!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Rice fields<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visitors to Bali are often blown away by the unique beauty of the islands many rice terraces, which span an area of 20,000 hectares. This ecologically sustainable system is of great cultural and religious importance in Bali and is under the authority of priests in the island\u2019s water temples. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subak became an <a href=\"https:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/list\/1194\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">established UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/a> in 2012 and is a must-see for anyone considering a trip to Bali.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Beaches<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a no-brainer, but we\u2019d be remiss if we didn\u2019t mention Bali\u2019s spectacular coastline. As with everything else on the island, Bali\u2019s beaches vary significantly from one spot to the next. This quiet strip of coastline is still largely underdeveloped and is more laid-back than many of Bali\u2019s more touristy spots. This makes it the perfect spot to kick back and relax with a beer and a good book while you work on your holiday tan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>For swimming<\/em><\/strong>: If swimming is your preferred beachside activity, head to <strong>Sanur<\/strong> on the south-east coast of the island. The calm, clear waters in this region make for perfect swimming conditions, and there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and bean bags for you to relax in afterward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><strong>For snorkelling:<\/strong><\/em> <strong>Menjangan island<\/strong> is located a few miles off Bali\u2019s north-west coast, and has some of the best snorkelling spots in the region. This unspoiled island is accessible only by boat and is home to many tropical fish species, including angelfish and clownfish. If you\u2019re lucky, you may even spot green sea turtles or hawksbill turtles here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><strong>For surfing<\/strong><\/em>: The best place to surf in Bali is undoubtedly <strong>Uluwatu<\/strong>. With six different reef breaks, this town on the peninsula of the island sees epic waves all year round, attracting thousands of world-class surfers. If you\u2019re a beginner, try out Canggu a little further up the coast, where the waves are a little smaller and more manageable.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Marine life<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bali is part of the Coral Triangle, a region with the greatest marine biodiversity on earth. This area is home to 76% of all known coral species in the world, as well as Giant Manta Rays, Giant Moray Eels, Hammerhead Sharks, Reef Sharks, and Hawksbill turtles.
