Enchanting

An enclave of luxury and tranquility. Three of us (mums) with our three 10 year old sons spent 12 nights in this stylish, beautiful villa. The owners retained and restored many of the original features and at the same time ensured that the property is equipped in all the mod cons bar tv and as such.. the boys played football and explored the extensive grounds, splashed in the large swimming pool and spent all day on the nearby beach braving the huge waves. The beach is only 3 min walk from the property. The chef was excellent. He treated us to delicious Sri Lankan and modern European dishes all cooked daily from fresh local produce. Ironica, the ever smiley housekeeper ensured that the house was spotless. Both spoke good English. The management organised regular yoga sessions for us on the beautiful veranda overlooking the gardens and the pool. Tuk tuks or taxis were on standby if we wanted to explore the area or go further afield eg to Galle Fort. I cannot fault this place. The beds were very comfortable, the bed linen pure cotton, the bathrooms spacious with power showers. I loved the fact that there was no air-con. No need for that as the villa's high ceilings and fans in each bedroom and throughout the house ensured a refreshing breeze and made the stay so much more authentic. Highly, highly recommended.

Simply stunning.

Just about to leave Siri Wedamadura after two weeks and we're feeling rather emotional. It's truly an amazing place to stay, with fantastic staff and animals (especially Mango the dog). We all feel very relaxed, and will definitely be back soon! The house is beautifully decorated with lovely antique furniture from mainly local sources, creating an incredibly calm atmosphere. Gamage the chef is truly talented and every meal was divine (we want to take him with us... as well as Mango). We are truly saddened to be leaving such a fantastic place, but we are leaving relaxed, cultured and tanned. Many thanks to all who made Siri Wedamadura such a special place in such a special country. Nat Lukes & co.

One of the best places I've ever stayed

Quiet location (other side of the hill along the bay of Mirissa so even at night you only hear nature sounds), beautifully restored villa in superb style, a huge and lovely pool, great beds, perfect shower, great staff with the best sweetheart as housekeeper and a private cook who, on request, makes you the most tasteful dinner of your holiday. What are you waiting for? You can find the villa at Booking.com, minimum stay 3 nights. The mentioned price here on TripAdvisor is for the entire villa (4 rooms for 2 persons) per week. We payed (Dec. 2015) about $ 150 per night for 2 persons including breakfast.

Fabulous hotell or villa with four rooms

Er stayed seven friends six nights in this villa wich is also a hotel with four rooms. It's perfect. Beautiful house with luxurious rooms and design baths - but all in a simple style. Four minutes walk from the beach. Big garden with quite big pool. The staff is very nice and welcoming and the best about the place is the chef who can make all the meals you want for the cost of the shopping. We had the best meals ever and stopped going out for dinner. You will not find ocean wiew but it's more calm and a lot more spacious than at the beachside. Make sure you stay long enough to get the best holiday feeling!

Wonderful house and staff

Great house, great location. Friendly and discreet staff. Best meals ever by your own chef. Fantastic housekeeper who did all our washing. Park like gardens with lots of wildlife. Close to beach but very quiet. Only drawback was we stayed in April, it was really hot a those of our party who had the downstairs bedrooms with no Airconditioning felt a bit cheated as upstairs bedrooms have A/C. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday. John & Livia

Location

Siri Wedamedura is enveloped by a lush private garden, and situated in the sleepy village of Mirissa on Sri Lanka's south coast. Both Mirissa's harbour - the launchpad for coastal cruises and whale watching trips - and tranquil palm-fringed beach are a handy stroll away from the villa whilst Weligama's enigmatic curve of coastline - popular with surfers - takes ten-minutes to reach by car.

Description

Charismatic family-friendly manor house

Immersed within five acres of tumbling gardens, this charismatic family-friendly manor house is a short stroll from Mirissa's sultry southern sands. Home to four ensuite bedrooms, breezy living and dining space and a fully equipped kitchen, this recently renovated colonial abode beautifully blends graceful period features with a contemporary interior design. Vivid modern artwork dots the walls, cushy beanbags languish atop cool cement floors and a select sprinkling of antiques and artefacts elegantly furnish the villa's refreshingly minimal interiors.

Modern distractions are absent here as the emphasis is on relaxing and making the most of the gorgeous tropical beaches and activities nearby. The house is wrapped by expansive lawned gardens home to a meandering pond and a steep bank from whose summit proffers stunning panoramic views over Mirissa's colourful harbour and across Weligama's wide sweep of sandy, palm-fringed bay. Formerly the home of an ayurvedic doctor, Siri Wedamedura comes with a discreet staff team who keep the house clean and secure, and prepare your meals for you on request. Provisions for food and drink are charged at cost price.

Siri Wedamedura's four garden-view fan-cooled bedrooms are situated across two floors. Each features either a double or two single four-poster beds draped in soft mosquito netting, a wardrobe and a contemporary ensuite bathroom with rain shower. Two bedrooms - a double and a twin - open from the ground floor living room whilst a further two twin bedrooms are accessed off the landing on the first floor. A rear staircase from the dining veranda leads to this upper floor.

The living and dining areas are all situated on the ground floor. At the front of the house is a deep garden-view veranda scattered with rattan chairs, which leads straight into a beanbag-furnished living room illuminated by a skylight. Beyond the living room is a spacious, open-sided dining veranda elegantly furnished with a dining table for 10 overlooking the exotic foliage of the leafy back garden. Just off this dining area is a fully equipped kitchen finished in smooth grey cement.
