Breathtaking Escape

Ishq is spectacular - beautifully designed and decorated, taking into consideration all the comforts of home and more. There are so many thoughtful additions and considerations, from the beautifully maintained infinity pool to the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel dispensers in each shower stall (inside and out). The openness of the villa design is breathtaking, and keeping the beautifully crafted old doors to the bedrooms and within the bedrooms adds so much to the overall appearance. The vaulted ceilings in the rooms adds a magnificent touch. We long to be back for the serenity, the escape and the simplicity of the town, the morning and evening walks we enjoyed along the beach and the few stray dogs that accompanied us. The weather was gorgeous, and just laying on the comfortable deck chairs under the coconut trees and on the hammock seems such a dream away as summer comes to an end. Needless to say, the staff topped off the wonderful stay we enjoyed at Ishq. Manjula and his staff were always gentle and respectful, and Chef was great. They obliged us so much - thank you!! We would strongly recommend Ishq villa to anyone who visits Sri Lanka!

Beautiful beachfront villa - Thoughtful design / Good food / Wonderful staff

We stayed at Ishq as a family of four in the low/shoulder season of August. The photographs are faithful to the beautiful design and feel of the villa. It is a clean, peaceful and airy space that did not feel too large for us, even though the villa can hold up to 12 guests comfortably. Manjula, who heads up the villa's staff, was terrific. His capability, good humour, courtesy and willingness to go the extra mile - quite literally, when he took my sister and me on a long bike ride through the nearby mangroves and paddy fields - made our stay. The staff were very diligent, making sure the large, well-appointed rooms were tidy at all times, the laundry was done, and the towels (both bathroom and poolside) were frequently changed. It is not easy to maintain a house like Ishq in a tropical climate, and we often admired how thoughtful the design was as a whole - from the details and materials to the structural elements and use of space. (My father, an architect, says it's one of the best homes he has seen!) The food was also very good. The chef easily accommodated vegetarian, gluten-free and healthy meal requests but also served delicious dinners of Sri Lankan curries, chili crab (a must) and a wonderful fresh apple crumble. The weather in August is mild with swiftly passing thunderstorms and lots of breeze. We were never too hot and had a couple of lovely sunny days. The beachfront location is great for watching the pole fishermen in the morning and the dramatic surf - though the sea is not swimmable and the beach is a little too narrow and steeply sloped for walking. One unfortunate thing about the villa's location is its proximity to two wedding halls, which for us meant three days and one late night of very loud dance music. We were happy to tolerate it at first, being sympathetic that it was somebody's "big day", but I'm afraid it did affect our overall fantastic experience at Ishq. Having said that, I would not hesitate to return or to recommend this villa to anyone. Thank you Manjula & team for a perfect summer holiday in Sri Lanka.

Unforgettable

The villa was magical I went with a group of 12 friends “ all girls “ who really enjoyed the stay.. professional staff , An amazing chief , the villa was beyond my expectations , the rooms were clean all Day, The Staff were very helpful & honest , the security guy made us feel safe, the swimming pool was really beautiful.. Paradise Found

From the moment you step in, a staff member eagerly awaiting to “welcome you home” everything at Ishq Villa is literally perfect! I can’t emphasise on it enough to be honest. The view & interior of the space at Ishq Villa is absolutely breathtaking. It’s your best escape from reality where it’s both peaceful & serene. Very well thought out with every little detail looked into! With your own private beach, fully equipped rooms with an outdoor shower – jacuzzi + Bluetooth bose speakers in each room & the surrounding space where you can freely listen to your own playlist from any corner at the Villa! Absolutely loved the food, service & ambience! The Staff at Ishq Villa were extremely kind & always ready to help whenever in need of assistance which was one of their best traits! Magical...!! Yet so Real....!!!

The blue ocean, white sandy beach, palm trees, the sound of breaking waves and abundance of sunshine are anyone's expectations when the thoughts of spending a holiday in the tropical coast come to mind! What if you get all that in a great villa designed by a world renowned architect of Geoffrey Bawa's tradition followed by his great next generation architects ? The Ishq is one such creation...A serene location with extra spacious rooms with unique bathrooms so large with an outdoor shower...a pool, a jacuzzi, fully pledged gym, a media room with play stations etc etc. a place where every inch is very thoughtfully and taken care of in minimalistic style, simplicity with elegance embraced with modern comforts. What you get most is special attention and care that you will perhaps not get anywhere else..! It starts with the booking and you will feel at home with that first point of contact...the warmth of being welcome to a home with hospitality, a refreshing welcome drink, character, great food, the menu discussed and prepared to suit your own taste buds desire. I went there with my family, wife and two daughters and two of my daughters friends. It all started with selection of the rooms by the girls as each one wasn't second to the other....a dip in the pool..surrounded by bluetooth audio delivered on hi-fidelity Bose sound system ((which in fact follows you through to every nook and corner of the property with wifi that works...!!)..drinks served around the pool...to a stroll down the beach and a dip in the salt water with an immerse in the jacuzzi to set the stage to begin the evening party..! The dinner was specially made to each ones special requirements and served with great care and warmth...! The strong tea to breakfast the following morning until departure was truly an experience of lavish hospitality! There is no other place that has impressed us as much as Ishq ! A truly amazing location, setting, ambience, great tasting food, facilities and above all the warmest hospitality that touches our hearts and remembered for a long long time!

HEAVEN ON EARTH

I just returned home from my stay at Ishq villa and i am finding it difficult to adapt to reality! This place is absolute magic! The villa is breathtakingly beautiful, the rooms are so clean, all rooms are fully equipped with every single utility you can think of and need. It also has every facility covered - the pool, private beach, gym, tv room (equipped with anything and everything)! Moving on to the food, it is our of this world! Even the most simplest thing like boiled veggies taste bloody fantastic! Lastly, the hospitality is so welcoming and warm! The group of 8 men, were so efficient, helpful ,kind and all rounders! Every single penny spent is worth it! 100% recommendation and you can pack light because they got you covered in every possible way! I LOVED my stay and hope to be back soon! Keep up the great work!

Hidden Paradise

Well where do I begin? This place is spectacular – absolutely stunning. My wife and I took a gamble on this place to host our wedding. I don’t believe they have held a wedding here before so we were slightly apprehensive about the whole thing but from start to finish the staff were amazing and facilitated the most amazing experience of our lives. Upon walking into the villa you are taken back by the stunning mix of contemporary design centered around a stunning pool. The bedrooms are just WOWW!! Each room as double if not triple showers with one being outside also, bathrooms are huge and again the rooms are styled and decorated with modernity and elegance. Each room also boasts its own sound system. There are also plenty of amenities available at the villa. There is a ‘media’ room which a range of games consoles, books, board games, cards, cable TV – the whole lot!! There is also a good sized gym upstairs too if you like working out. The Bose sound system is also great, we did have some difficulty in trying to sync our music to the system as it only seems to work with Amazon’s music streaming service so you won’t be able to use Apple Music or any other service to get the full experience – this is only a minor gripe however. The garden area outside is also wonderful. Beautiful palms trees and grass which leads onto a sanded area at the back with steps down onto the small but cute beach front. During the rainy season the sea is quite rough and swimming is not advised but it is beautiful l to watch the crashing waves. The food; again was absolutely amazing. They have a varied menu consisting of European and local cuisine which is cooked to perfection, each dish busting with copious amount of flavour. The professionalism and service levels that we experienced were second to none. You would never have guessed that this was the first wedding meal they had held. Before we travelled we were advised of an issue with their main chef who was unable to cook for us during our stay but Kevin and Manjula were able to resolve this issue for us by hiring more chefs to run the kitchen on the day. These extra touches are what make this place so special. Any issues that arises the team will go out of their way to accommodate and rectify the situation. Also another special mention to Manjula who took our marriage certificate to Colombo (2hr drive away) for it to be legalised for us, this allowed us to continue our honey moon without having to trek back up to the capital to get our document legalised. Manjula then hand delivered this document to us at the new hotel we were staying at – all round fantastic service. If you are thinking staying here as a group of friends, as a family or having a small wedding here I cannot recommend it enough. Our wedding party consisted of 21 people and ended in us all having a pool party after dinner, it was the perfect sized villa for this amount of people but I think you could fit up to 30 guests here at a push. Thanks again to the wonderful team at Ishq Villa, we will definitely be returning for our anniversary!

Home!

I stayed at this beautiful villa last year. As soon as you enter the villa you forget about everything around. Just the ambience is so homely. The rooms are so spacious. The food is delicious. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They are ever ready to take care of you. Dont forget the TV room equipped with a PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii, Netflix, Apple TV and so many more games. The villa is ideal for couples, families and for a group of friends. You just don't feel like leaving this beautiful home.

A place to go back to!

I had the most amazing 3 days in Ishq during my Sri Lankan trip due to many factors! Simply the experience that I could wake up with a direct view on the ocean straight from my bed each morning... We were also enjoying hearty breakfasts by the sea consisting of beautifully prepared local dishes. The staff did their best during our whole stay to make us super-comfortable and happy. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower, the mini-golf, the stunning sunset and the food. There are also many touristic spots to visit next door in Galle, too!

Located along Galle’s ‘French Riviera’ of Talpe, Ishq Talpe less than two hours from Colombo’s international airport, Ishq Talpe is a true tropical paradise, placing you close to the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Talpe is a coastal town on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka. Ishq Talpe sits on a quiet stretch of beach, with an active coral reef that can be explored during the season. Sea turtles congregate to feast in front of the villa in the early hours of the morning and are seen again around 4.30pm every evening.

During the season from November to April, a hundred meter walk along the beach on either side of the villa offers natural pools for swimming. The best swimmable beach in the area is Wijaya beach, a 4-minute drive (1.2km) from the villa. For surfing enthusiasts, the closest surf breaks include Unawatuna (10-minute drive; 4km), Kabalana (15-minute drive; 9km), Dewata (15-minute drive; 6km) and Weligama (30-minute drive; 20km).

Inland Talpe is as diverse as its rich waters and will take you through tea plantations, paddy cultivations, villages, lakes, local markets, and ancient temples. The area also has an interesting selection of bars, restaurants, and cafes.

Cancellation Policy

00% cancellation fee - Reservations cancelled above 90 days (local time) prior to the arrival date. Payments collected prior to the said date will be refunded less bank charges.
30% cancellation fee - Reservations cancelled within 89 to 60 days (local time) prior to the arrival date. Payments collected prior to the said date will be refunded less 30% fee and bank charges.
50% cancellation fee - Reservations cancelled within 59 to 30 days (local time) prior to the arrival date.
100% cancellation fee - For reservations cancelled within 29-00 days (local time) prior to the arrival date. ‘Last minute reservations’ are subject to the same clause.

The cancellation of a reservation must be communicated in writing via email. The effective date of cancellation is when written notification is received by the villa management. They will in turn confirm the cancellation of the reservation in writing based on the terms mentioned above.

Balance payment - Due no less than 30 days prior to the arrival date.

An exclusive beachfront residence

Ishq Talpe is a family owned, informal and bespoke luxury villa set in a remarkable location on the quiet coastline of Talpe. The villa takes its name from the Arabic word for love and passion. This beautiful 5-bedroom villa first came to life in the 1990s, a part of the original fabric of the island’s first luxury villas designed by renowned architect, the late Bruce Fell-Smith. Today, the villa marries a love for clean design with oceanic hues and brings together all the comforts of a boutique hotel with the privacy and exclusivity of a private villa.

Expect characteristics of colonial Dutch heritage, high ceilings, airy spaces in bedrooms and common areas, large king-sized beds for deep slumbers, and low-slung chairs by the courtyard pool for sunbathing. Therapeutic evening massages on the lawn and lazy swims are the perfect activity for taking in the gorgeous Indian Ocean sunsets. Meals feature fabulous Sri Lankan and international cuisine highlighting fresh seafood and locally grown produce, whilst the well-stocked games and movie room is an ideal hangout for families and children.

The 5-bedroom villa can accommodate a maximum of 14 guests (including children) and 2 baby cots. The composition of each room is as follows –

Reservations at the villa are on Bed and Breakfast basis. All other meals will be served and charged for accordingly from the à la carte menu. The menus offer an array of options from Sri Lankan to International cuisine featuring fresh fish and seafood. All dietary requirements can be catered to - including gluten and vegan meals - and our in-house chefs are flexible with creating dishes off the menu. Pork is not offered at the villa. BBQs can be arranged in the garden overlooking the ocean, and will be charged separately. Packed or picnic meals can be provided to guests when venturing out during the day. The villa does not have a liquor license. Guests are encouraged to bring their own liquor which the team will be happy to chill and serve. There will be no corkage fee.
