We couldnt have wished for a better place to host our wedding

If you are ever looking for a place to gather all your friends and family in one place The Old Lady will be the best choice. We booked the whole place for 5 nights and we had the most amazing time. When my husband and I were looking for villa, we wanted to find a place that could fit all of our guests, have enough space for everyone and cater a wedding. It wasnt easy, and when we saw The Old Lady villa we thought it was perfect. However, when we actually arrived at the place it was beyond our expectations. First of all, we were worried about putting 18 people in one place for 5 night. But the villa is so spacious that no one is on each others way. Some guests were at the pool, some at the gazebo, some at the beach and some in dining area. So it never felt crowded. Second of all, as soon as we arrived Siri the manager told us to feel like home and they made sure we felt that way. Staff were incredible. So sweet, genuine and helpful. All you have to do is pick your menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was always ready and set by the time that was agreed. Food was really really delicious. And it was never restricted to one cuisine. Chef can cook pretty much anything you request. One of our guests has strict GF diet and she always got separate food prepared for her. Also, special meals were prepped for my 8 yrs old niece too. It was very rare when food got wasted, as sometimes we just warmed up few leftovers for lunch. Besides, we could always walk in the kitchen and make sandwiches, snacks etc. So convenient. Wim, the owner of the villa was always in touch with us if we had questions regarding the wedding organisation. On the actual wedding way, all of the staff were incredible at helping to run things smoothly. I couldnt have wished for a better place to celebrate our wedding with family and friends. Fantastic location! Fabulous services!

We were a group of 12 friends + 1 infant. The villa has the best possible location, right on the beach. The sound of the ocean is amazing. There are baby crabs all over. You have your own coconut trees inside the property. The pool is very well maintained, and you can swimm 24 hours a day if you want. You can swimm also in the ocean in the days when the waves are calmer. The staff is fantastic and the manager Siri will do everything to make you feel confortable. The cook is amazing, we had the best meals at the best prices. The cuisine concept is super. You only pay for the groceries at the market prices. They arranged airport transfer and excursions for us. We didn't had to do anything, they take care of all the logistics. We stayed 10 days and we felt like kings in paradise.You can be as noisy as you want, you can stay all night to listen to the ocean, or you can party all night. It is the absolute freedom. We will go back for sure. Thank you The Old Lady At The Sea and thank you, beautiful Sri Lanka!

The Old Lady Sure Did Treat Us Well...

A holiday that was spent well with my friends wchich included 2 infants and 10 adults. From the time of reservation to the time of departure it was an absolute pleasant experience. Service excellence was indeed in the DNA of the management & the staff at the villa. Incredibly polite and extremely attentive staff that helps you with every need. A place that all of us enjoyed to the fullest with a soulful Sri Lankan menu that was made to order. The old lady... you really did treat us well & will see you soon with a bigger crowd

Fantastic 10 night stay at The Old Lady

We stayed here for 10 nights with my parents, wife and little boy, Ted. The villla is situated in Boossa, around 10 minutes from Galle, and 15 minutes to Hikkaduwa. We got the bus to Galle and Hikkaduwa which is a very cheap way of travelling at 10 pence per person and a great experience! But if you don’t want to take the bus, you can get the villas driver or a tuk tuk. On other days we visited the tea plantation (Virgin White Tea) which was fantastic and also unawatuna, whale watching in Mirissa and we also had a safari in Yala which accomodation at The coconut garden hotel, a lovely hotel in a banana plantation, 15 minutes from Yala. All the above was booked by the villas manager, the very friendly and effecient Siri! He booked the driver, who was also an excellent guide and took us to many places on route to our destinations. Every night bar one we ate at the villa, the wonderful food cooked by Yosante, the chef who not only cooked us wonderful sri lankan food, she also cooked our little boy some pasta and chippy chips every night and pancakes in the morning. The highlight of the villa though, was the resident dog, Puwli who our little boy fell in love with. It was so cute and he was so sad to leave him. We won’t forget Puwli. The owner Wim was unbelievable in all communication when booking the villa and also messaged during our stay to make sure everything was ok. He genuinely wanted to make sure everything was covered. I also need to mention Bara Beach, where we went for cocktails pretty much every night, which is a two minute stroll along the beach. it’s a wonderful atmosphere which a happy hour 5.30-6.30 every night. The owner is a lovely guy and they have a great atmosphere especially around sunset. The staff we had looking after us made the trip so memorable and everyone from the manager to the cook, the pool boy, the security guards were so helpful. i even managed to play cricket with them a few times!

The old lady at the sea

A group of 18 of us stayed at the villa for two weeks December 2017. We were of mixed ages from 8 to 67. The villa accommodated all of us with plenty of space and an excellent pool. The staff were truly amazing and looked after our every whim, nothing was too much. The staff are discreet yet always on hand and always with a smile. The manager came everyday and organised amazing trips from safaris to train rides to climbing Adams peak. The drivers were knowledgable and always on time ensuring we got the most out of our trip. Truly lovely place and highly recommended. The cook made amazing food although I’m not sure we made the most of her skills and a tasting menu would be something to consider for future visitors. A washing machine would of been handy but we managed without. All in all a lovely place and fantastic memories made. Thank you for making our first visit to Sri Lanka one to remember and we will be back!

It was my first trip to Sri Lanka, and 15 of my family and friends (ages 2 - 74) joined me for a week long birthday celebration. We flew in from 8 cities around the world and were greeted by this fabulous beach villa. Wim the owner was very prompt and helpful all along the way with pre arrival information, planning and logistics. Once we got there the location and layout of the property exceeded expectations - slightly rustic and you couldn't be closer to the ocean! The staff were very good and yet un-intrusive, they looked after our every need so well, especially the chef Ishanti and the helper Taru. The food at the villa was excellent and it gave us the much needed flexibility on whether we ate out or in each day. There are security guards on the premises as well, and we felt very safe throughout our 9 day stay. The pool was lovely too (note, it is extremely slippery around the edges so do take extra care) and the property affords enough space to spread yourselves out. Rooms are comfortable and cleaned every day. We experienced a few leaks during our stay due to heavy rains but the staff fixed those immediately and it was fine. Transport is easy to access, we took tuk tuk's and local buses from just outside the villa on a couple of occasions, and made plenty of use of the cars and drivers that the Villa manager organised for us, as we were a large group (incl airport pick up). Galle, Hikkadua, Unawatuna, are all within easy reach. We had a week full of joy and hope you do too!

the delicious food and could not actually think of food! The children were kept There are not enough words to explain how great this villa is. The people who work there make it their mission to make your stay as wonderful as they can. Everything is tailored just for you. There were 18 of us travelling from Australia, Hong Kong and U.K and the ages ranges were 70 - 3 years. The staff helped with taking a sick child to the doctors and making sure everything was ok. Playing with children whilst the pool was being cleaned (was very early in the morning i might add). The food was the best on the island and if i had to moan about anything it would be that the villa needs a sample menu as when asked what we would like for dinner, lunch or breakfast it was normally after we had stuffed our faces with happy with the wide range of food too from spag bol to chicken goujons to everything inbetween. The rooms were clean and any extra bedding or towels that were asked for were quickly delivered. The security guards were discreet and reassuring that every time we went on to the public beach (which was quiet) we were watched for safety reasons. Its true you can't swim in the sea it is too rough but a walk and a paddle is fine. The unawattuna beach a short tuk tuk ride away is fabulous for food, shops and cocktails! I am not a lover of any animals whilst on holiday and try to avoid them if i can, but the villa dog is an exception! My 13 yr old daughter and her friend went on to the beach and the dog followed, whenever anyone approached the dog would go and sit next to the girls and "protect" them as people would walk the opposite direction. It was very reassuring. I could babble on with all the things that are so great with this place (including a phone call from the owner to check you're having a good time and everything was ok). But the truth is If you want a fabulous holiday where you are pampered and spolit - this is the place!

15 of us went there for 5 days for a friend's 40th. We fell in love with the place instantly. The property, the service, the food, the beach, the pool and the gardens were all incredible. I would go back in a heartbeat. Been to many places in Asia, this is one of my favorites!

Great place for a big crowd. Fantastic location and food

The place was great, it was right on the beach with a lovely pool and big garden. the staff was non intrusive and very polite. we got the entire place and it was very private. there is a very big garden as well. all in all its highly recommended for a big crowd.

Tropical Climate
The southern coast belt is a lovely place to stay. From November till April the ocean becomes calm, the sky blue and in evening time wonderful sunsets. May, June and July are the hottest months of the year with most in the evening tropical rains what is then very refreshing.
