Location

Kadju House is about 190 km from Colombo. The drive from Colombo takes approximately three and a half hours using the new expressway connecting Colombo to Galle (this is dependent on the time of day - evenings and early mornings are best when traffic is less). There are interesting spots and diversions along the way. We particularly recommend a stop in Galle - a World Heritage site.

After the 191km marker post, proceed for another 800m, passing first a temple on the left then going over a little bridge and when the road veers right, one would see another temple. Take a right turn onto a Cement road on the sea side directly opposite the temple (Jayasumanaramaya) gate. Proceed up the road and The Kadju House is on the left at the end of the road.

The Sea Plane Service to Dickwella (approx 10 mins away from Kadju) is up and running through Cinnamon Air; there are discounts on offer if you are staying at Kadju House - please let us know if you are interested and we will contact them on your behalf. Collection and dropping off to the landing area is complimentary.

Description

A luxury serene 5 bedrooms villa

'One must be absolutely modern,' wrote the poet Rimbaud, and in this villa you find a new conception of the Good Life: simple and visionary in its clarity. Designed to be integrated completely into its environment, it contains nothing superfluous, built from only necessary forms, almost more a fortuitous configuration of materials in nature than a manmade structure -- something found. Walk through the rooms: without knowing it, you move from inside to outside, from outside
to inside.

Walk down to the white-sand beach and help a group of fishermen pull in a net of shining silver fish; afterwards, relax for a massage in the Ayurvedic spa, or swim in the pool where an infinite perspective looks out over the Indian Ocean, framed by palm trees filled with parrots and monkeys. If you are dreaming of adventures further afield, pilot a flat-bottomed punt through a bird sanctuary in a mangrove lagoon; visit a preserve home to herds of elephants; or bathe in a nearby river and enjoy a picnic lunch wrapped in a banana leaf. When you return, fishermen have brought just-caught lobsters to the doorstep. Be silent, drink the milk from an orange coconut, and listen to the peacocks' melancholy cry. And then, at sunset, the landscape dissolves into pure form, and you dissolve with it.
