Fantastic setting overviewing rice fields and the jungle - albeit close to Ubud centre

We rented the whole facility (two separate villas on the same piece of land) for a family consisting of 7 adults and a baby for 10 days. Everything was extremely well-functioning: All bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, there are several extra rooms (studies) that make it possible to spend some comfortable individual time, the outdoor areas for each villa are organised in a way making it easy to use as a shared facility for everyone. The food available and made on-site is first class local delicacies. Last - but most importantly - the 7 person staff are amazingly friendly, helpful and nice. In total this was nothing short of a fantastic vacation in an amazing spot right in the jungle.

Gorgeous villa, amazing staff

We stayed here for a few nights in February and this positive review is long overdue. The villa is gorgeous with great views and feels nice and private nestled in the forest. Ubud is close by with some restaurants and shops with a lot of nice handmade stuff to buy for your house. I wish I had an empty shipping container because I would have bought a bunch of hand-crafted furniture to bring home! But really I wanted to leave this review to rave about the staff. Wayan was amazing and tended to our every need. I have dietary restrictions and he was great at making sure I could eat everything on the menu or had a delicious substitute for anything I was unable to eat. He had lots of local recommendations and helped us find a great masseuse that came to the villa. He arranged all our travel to and from town. When we left the villa, my girlfriend and I foolishly left our passports in the room safe and didn't realize until we were far away. Wayan traveled all the way to Sanur on his own time to bring us our passports (probably about 1hr drive each way). I'm very grateful to him and apologize for this review being so late. Thanks to Wayan for helping make our stay great and avoiding a passport disaster!

Tranquil getaway

After the hustle and bustle of travelling from the airport, the contrast when you enter Villa Kelusa is remarkable. The noise of the mopeds and cars just disappear as soon as you enter through the small gate that leads to the property. The view is simply outstanding and that coupled with the amazingly well kept gardens makes Villa Kelusa a paradise within a paradise. Wayan and his team make your stay as pleasurable as possible, with immaculate service and wonderful accommodation We stayed in Pondok Sapi, which is the smaller of the two villas, however Wayan showed me around the other villa which was just as beautiful as ours. The rooms were large and the completely wooden bath tub and out door shower were unique and wonderful to use at the end of a busy day. We stayed for 3 nights and ate in on two of them. In my opinion the food is better than you get in Ubud and such good value for money. The villa lays on transport to get to and from Ubud and uses the local community driver, which i thought was a nice touch. Altogether a wonderful stay.

Outstanding property, superb location, great staff

Immediately after we booked our stay Dayu of Red Lotus Property contacted us to enquire about our requirements on arrival and everything was perfect when we arrived at the property. The property itself is outstanding, very comfortable and lovely swimming pool. The location is superb overlooking the woods and the hills beyond. Wayan and his staff at the property were very freindly and woul go out of their way to fullfill any of our needs and requirements, always with a smile. The food was also amazing, particularly considering that we were vegetarians. We regret having stayed there for only 3 nights and will certainly go back and stay longer.

Amazing place to be

We’re delighted to have spent a few days at Villa Kelusa. Wayan and the whole team have been very friendly, helpful and enchanting at all times. We have spent some fantastic days, sure if we return to Bali, we would like to go back to Villa Kelusa. The environment and people are formidable. Fantastic place to stay, beatiful sourandings to visit.

Perfection

From the moment we walked into Villa Kelusa it was perfection. Two separate villas with dining and entertainment area inbetween, allowed our large family to have our own space. The surrounding valley jungle and rice terraces are a haven to wildlife and the views are amazing. Wayan and his dedicated team created a relaxed and efficient feel where nothing was too much hassle. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return one day.

Excellent place to recommend

These two nights were just exceptional! We stayed at Villa Kelusa with the family and enjoyed every moment. The place is amazing, peaceful rice fields surroundings. Great staff and lovely dinner organized onsite if you prefer not to go back to Ubud down town ( a bit far away unfortunately). We will come back soon.

Just as amazing the second time!

I cannot overstate how much we enjoyed our second stay at Villa Kelusa. The house, pool, grounds and view are still as spectacular as they were two years ago. Wayan and his staff still as friendly, and the food just as good if not better than we remembered it. We'll be back!

Perfect Honeymoon Experience at Villa Kelusa

When we booked the wrong dates at our first hotel in Ubud and they could not accommodate us, we were given the option to stay at Villa Kelusa. Skeptical of doing a villa rental, since it was only my husband and I on our honeymoon, we ended up being thoroughly spoiled and treated like royalty by Wayan and his staff! The villa is located just outside of the bustle of Ubud town, so you can really relax and enjoy the ameneties (provided you aren't scurrying around trying to take everything this beautiful area has to offer!). The grounds are beautifully kept, and each villa has it's own private infinity pool looking out towards the rice terrace. There are two villas on the property, however at the time we were there, we were the only ones occupying the whole space, so we had access to both pools. The villas themselves are stunning, with ample closet space and very comfortable beds. There are common areas with televisions and lounging space as well. You can absolutely stretch out and make yourself at home here, rather than feel cramped in a small hotel room. The team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort - even arranging for a private, English speaking driver who drove us most days, and handling all of our restaurant and tour reservations. We loved our stay at Villa Kelusa, and look forward to staying here again!! Thank you Wayan!

Cancellation Policy

The following cancellation charges will be applicable depending on when the notification of the cancellation is received in writing:

30 days or more before arrival date:
* Deposit forfeited - but credited for 9 months from the date of the cancellation confirmation by the management company. The credit can be used by the client or anyone on their behalf for a reservation for the same villa and during any period.

Within 30 days of arrival date:
* All rental payments are forfeited.
* The above cancellation charges also apply if the management company cancels the booking due to non-payment of the balance. If the dates of the booking require to be changed or amended, this may be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and cancellation charges may apply.
* Any change to the original reservation is subject to the approval of the management company.
* Early departure penalty will be subject to negotiation with the management company.

Shall the party wish to change villa on arrival, a minimum 3 days notice is required or will be charged as a cancellation fee. Any differences in published rates between the villas are also applicable and will be charged to the Guests. Shall the alternative villa be cheaper, no refund will be made.

Balance payment
* Full balance is due at least 30 days prior to arrival

* In case of reservation within 30 days of arrival, full payment may be requested at once before the arrival date

* Payments may be made by Telegraphic Transfer to our company bank account or through an online payment gateway with your credit card (visa or master card).
* If payment by credit card is preferred this will incur a 3.9% admin fee.

The lovely and ultra-private Villa Kelusa is nestled in the Balinese foothills beneath the very small, traditional village of Kelusa. At jungle’s edge, atop a vast amphitheatre of rice paddies cascading down into the deep gorge of the holy Pakuseba River, Villa Kelusa commands a panoramic view of a distant ridge of nine ancient volcanoes. Sitting high on top of the ridge, Villa Kelusa creates a soothing grandstand from which to watch local farmers harvest rice; and the gorge is so vast that on most mornings, clouds and birds drift by below. While practically untouched by the modern world, Kelusa is also a surprisingly short drive up the hill from Ubud, a very large, bustling village which, with its world-renowned restaurants, dance performances, art galleries and nearby 5-star hotels, is considered the cultural centre of Bali.

Villa Kelusa blends together two properties, PONDOK SAPI (the Shed of the Cow) and PONDOK SURYA (Sunset House), which can be rented separately or together. All bedrooms, as well as living and dining areas, have breathtaking views. PONDOK SAPI

Pondok Sapi, which means “pavilion of the cow” is named after the ubiquitous Balinese thatched sheds which dot the jungles and also shelter the farmers in their rice terraces. Pondok Sapi was designed as the private residence of a retired American writer and television journalist. Three separate buildings make up Pondok Sapi. Immediately to the North of Villa Kelusa’s entry gate rests the Main Pavilion, an open-air entertainment structure with breathtaking views of the Pakuseba Canyon. The Main Pavilion contains a gourmet kitchen, dining and living areas, full bathroom and an enclosed, air-conditioned media room that can be converted into a luxury bedroom.

The next building is the air-conditioned Glass House, a two-story glass-walled studio with a library and two spacious en-suite master bedrooms with king beds. The bottom suite can also be configured with two single beds. The doors and windows open completely to bring the surroundings inside. The Northernmost building is an open-air Pool Cabana with a private infinity pool and lounge area, with access to a large, landscaped lawn and rock garden. All buildings are perched atop a ridge, above tiled rice paddies that cascade down an enormous, steep ravine to the Pakuseba River and face West to maximize stunning sunset views over nine ancient volcanoes.

PONDOK SURYA

Pondok Surya, or Sunset House, rest to the South of the main entrance to Villa Kelusa. It was also designed with open, panoramic views of the rice paddies, jungle and mountains. The main floor is designed around a 20-meter infinity lap pool which runs through the centre of the house. An interior bridge carved from a single piece of ironwood connects the living and entertainment areas. Also on the main floor is an enclosed kitchen and beautifully-landscaped outdoor (but private) bathroom. In addition, there is an air-conditioned guest room that can be configured with a king bed or two single beds. Pondok Surya has a large, air-conditioned, second story in-suite master bedroom with a king bed and a wrap-around terrace. The sliding glass walls open up to bring the outside in. The master bath contains a massive custom bathtub, hand-carved from a single, giant tree, which looks out over the cascading rice fields.
