Wonderful Place to Stay on the Beach

If you are looking for a great place to stay in South coast Sri Lanka, this is it!......... When we stayed at the Elephant Palace we seemed to leave the hustle and bustle of the world behind. We were greeted by the house keeper & cook who were very in tune with what we were looking for in a retreat. Our room faced the ocean and was very well appointed. Beautiful public areas with relaxing but elegant colors and furnishings. The rooms are super clean, the beds are dreamy and the balconies overlooking the pool and beach are actually large enough to really enjoy. This villa is gorgeous inside and out. The beach area is very clean and beautiful views. During our stay we were pampered like royalty. I can honestly say we had the most wonderful time during our stay.

Heaven On Earth -You will not want to leave

Stayed for 5 nights over UK half term - mid February. Can't say how much we enjoyed our time in Elephant Palace. The staff are amazing, and the location is perfect. Two teenagers and two adults were totally happy with this location. The villa is beautiful, very well set up for all your desires. Coffee in the morning, tea mid morning, and amazing lunches and dinners on request. What is lovely about this villa is that although it's on a main road (yes you can hear the beep beep of Sri Lanka but thats part of it) but it's also totally private and with ultimate attention from the staff that the owners provide, all with a walk on beach (which is deserted) is just bliss. It's the first time I have hired a villa with staff, and these guys kill it. You feel isolated but also you walk out onto a beach that is safe for swimmers and kids and lots of surfers to look at, and also pop next door for some lessons if you need them. The villa is beautiful and well equipped with everything that you need. Yes it's not cheap, but on the other hand it's very reasonable compared to staying in a hotel, but then you dont' deal with other residents. I would come back to this villa in a heartbeat. Thanks Rob..Holiday of a lifetime.

Stunning house on family friendly beach - perfect Sri Lankan holiday

Elephant Palace is the perfect place to enjoy Sri Lanka in luxury with a family - it was our best holiday together yet. The house, garden and pool are beautifully designed. The beach has incredibly fine golden sand and is a great place for kids to swim safely and learn how to surf. The staff team were friendly and the service was excellent. We loved waking up to huge fresh fruit plates, smoothies, porridge and curds. The lunches and evening meals cooked to order were delicious - highlights were lemongrass prawns, ponzu seared tuna and the selection of Sri Lankan curries. The villa is only 20 minute TukTuk ride from Galle Fort and is very close to lots of other great beaches and restaurants - the delightful Cafe Ceylon is just over the road. We will be going back!

The ultimate in luxury, yet you feel completely at home!

I cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay at Elephant Palace. It has been done up beautifully with it's own plunge pool and access straight onto one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful white sandy beaches! A little piece of heaven. We were so well looked after by the team and the food that was prepared for us was exceptional! A perfect place to come with two couples and/or children. It was just my mum and I, so we were totally spoiled and each had a beautiful ensuite room to ourselves with four poster beds and private adjoining terraces overlooking the ocean. Magnificent views and so great to have a sundowner up on the terrace! There is a television if you want it and basically everything you could wish for is catered for. I really hope to come back again one day, possibly with some friends, as it's really the ideal house for 2 couples or a family to enjoy a week or so on the beach, with Galle super close by. It's an ideal place from which to explore the rest of the South West coast.

Perfect Holiday Villa especially with kids!

We stayed in Elephant Palace earlier this year with our two kids and it was like a home away from home. Everything from the fantastic chef who would cook up anything we requested to the lovely house manager who was attentive and made sure we and the kids were well taken care of. Our kids had a blast in the plunge pool and the best part was they could walk right outside the backyard and play on one of the most gorgeous stretches of beach in Sri Lanka.

Koggala Lake is under 10 minutes drive away, and is a wildlife sanctuary, on which one can arrange amazing boat tours, or even bicycle tours along its banks. Two Buddhist temples on the lake are also well worth a visit. Yatagalla temple inland from Talpe and the Japanese peace pagoda on Rumasalla are also noteworthy and only 20 minutes drive away. 30 minutes to the north is the world-heritage sight Galle Fort (best shopping & restaurants galore), the initially Portuguese (16th century) and then Dutch construction (17th century) with magnificent views all along the ramparts.

Opposite EP is a fantastic restaurant, especially renowned for its oysters and lobster prawn, fresh from nearby Koggala Lake. 3 doors down is a charming pizza & tacos restuarant that also does delivery. There are bars and beach clubs, spas and salons all along the coastal road to Galle centre. Unawatuna has the greatest concentration of nightlife, shops and restaurants, and is only a 20-minute drive. Mirissa (15 minutes in the opposite direction) also has beach bars & restaurants galore.
