Elephant Palace – is a dream holiday in Sri Lanka

Elephant Palace – is a dream holiday in Sri Lanka. Located right on the most beautiful clean sandy beach, it gives both privacy, and the easy access to places of interest - if you choose to! We often found so spoiled by the tranquility of the villa, that we would rather stay there and fully enjoy the experience. Very child friendly, it’s got a lovely pool cleverly designed for both kids and adults. Ample living area provides lots of space and air for everyone to chill out. Impeccable service from the houseboys and the cook made us feel welcome and spoiled. We definitely would come back to enjoy it again. Angela & Paul

Visit heaven

,After a long journey, we landed to hot tropical thunderstorm. Greeted by a friendly driver we were safely transported to what seemed like heaven. This was confirmed when the sun came up the following morning. Waking to a fruit platter and cappuccino. Elephant palace and its wonderful staff were therapy for all of us. Run, yoga and and loads and loads of swimming and surfing. Some fun tuk tuk rides to plantations and temples and shops. My boys were in heaven. At 7 and 4 and of corse hubby, not to mention myself, there was something for all of us. Thanks you Lara and Rob. I still meditate with the view in my minds eye. Xxx

Our best family holiday. Perfect villa - for family or friends. You will not want to leave!

We stayed at the Elephant Palace for 10 nights in total and fell so in love with the place we had the blues for 2 days before we were due to leave. Lara & Rob were super helpful in terms of providing information before our arrival and even arranging our airport transfer. They also offered up solutions when the power was unexpectedly cut a few times, which was out of their hands. The villa is gorgeous with a good sized pool that is perfect for little ones as it has 2 shallow platforms for them to play on. Beyond the pool is a lovely garden with coconut trees and beyond that is the best beach we have ever visited! Let me tell you why: we had direct access from the garden to the beach so we did not have to pack tonnes of stuff with us and could just run back to the villa within seconds if we needed anything; the sand is soft and powdery; there are always people on the beach but it is never crowded; the water is warm and stays shallow for quite a way in so again great for kids to splash around in and is wavy enough for surfing! There are plenty of tuk tuks on the main road at the front of the villa so it is easy to get around. The villa comes with a chef and housekeeper who were wonderful. They were so sweet and accomodating and enjoyed playing with the children (1yr old and 2yr old). Danushka's breakfasts and fruit juices were delicious and Sampath's crab, spring rolls and daal were the tastiest we've had! In terms of activities, the pool and beach kept us all busy most of the time, but we also managed to try surfing (perfect beach for beginners and there is a fantastic surf school next door at 7th sky idyll) and had a few private yoga sessions at the villa. We travelled as a group of two families and there was something for everyone. We are sad to be back in the UK and are already trying to plan our next trip out to Elephant Palace where we created some wonderful memories.

HOME on the beach. Perfect

We stayed at Elephant Palace for 7nights, our last day is today and we don't want to leave! The location is lovely right on the beach, literally. (villa door, pool, garden then the beach) Surfing paradise, but not a busy beach in the slightest. The pool/ beach set up is great for kids and the pool has different levels in it so great for small kids. The 2 guys working at the villa were the BEST! Danushka & Sampath. you were amazing and so good with our kids. (3.5yr and 1.5yr old) Sam path is the chef and he can cook! great local food. We highly recommend this villa.

Perfect Holiday Villa especially with kids!

We stayed in Elephant Palace earlier this year with our two kids and it was like a home away from home. Everything from the fantastic chef who would cook up anything we requested to the lovely house manager who was attentive and made sure we and the kids were well taken care of. Our kids had a blast in the plunge pool and the best part was they could walk right outside the backyard and play on one of the most gorgeous stretches of beach in Sri Lanka.

Location

Koggala Lake is under 10 minutes drive away, and is a wildlife sanctuary, on which one can arrange amazing boat tours, or even bicycle tours along its banks. Two Buddhist temples on the lake are also well worth a visit. Yatagalla temple inland from Talpe and the Japanese peace pagoda on Rumasalla are also noteworthy and only 20 minutes drive away. 30 minutes to the north is the world-heritage sight Galle Fort (best shopping & restaurants galore), the initially Portuguese (16th century) and then Dutch construction (17th century) with magnificent views all along the ramparts.

Opposite EP is a fantastic restaurant, especially renowned for its oysters and lobster prawn, fresh from nearby Koggala Lake. 3 doors down is a charming pizza & tacos restuarant that also does delivery. There are bars and beach clubs, spas and salons all along the coastal road to Galle centre. Unawatuna has the greatest concentration of nightlife, shops and restaurants, and is only a 20-minute drive. Mirissa (15 minutes in the opposite direction) also has beach bars & restaurants galore.
